you know you work in Urology when...

1. …a patient calls for a wart removal and you don’t even have to ask where the wart is because you already know it’s not on their finger…

2. …Monday morning calls include patients thinking they have a bladder infection… and Friday afternoon calls are from the drug seekers…

3. …You hope there's a special place in Hell for the inventor of Uro-Dynamics testing…

4. …You have a tendency to laugh at your patients "big" problem.(while they are on hold …of course! :-)

5. …You believe that saying "It can't get worse" causes it to get worse… just to show you it can…

6. …You wash your hands BEFORE you go to the bathroom. AFTER you use the bathroom, and when you LEAVE the bathroom! (you never know what is where!!)

7. …You believe in the aerial spraying of XANAX.

8. …You don't dare mention the name of the “special patients” so as not to invoke his/her spirit to bring him/her in.

9. …Your patients swear up and down that the lab said the UA would be ready in 1 hr…

10. …You know what a DRE is and it does not involve technology in any way…

11. …Cottage cheese doesn't look so appetizing anymore…

12. …when a patient says they have a "personal" problem that they can only talk to the dr about/ you make sure to “check the chart” you wouldn’t want it to be the wrong patient…

13. …Doing an Ultrasound in the office has nothing to do with babies…

14. …You buy a lint roller for loose hair removal after shaving the area.. And we don’t mean the face…

15. … about half of your patient base thinks it is an EMERGENCY when they can’t get it up… 16. … you say, ”Unfortunately, that’s normal…” about 40 times a day….

17. … saying the words “penis” or “vagina” in a normal conversation about your day doesn’t even phase you…

18. when you have to discuss proper wiping technique on a daily basis to people over the age of 2...

19. …when we talk about slings, they don’t go on your arm…

20. …when you know what the male patients refer to as a “Roto-Rooter” and that it has nothing to do with home plumbing…

I never thought of using a lint roller for that. I thought the pts were supposed to shave before coming to the office for vasectomies.

They are supposed to shave... lol. most don't. Its an inside joke mostly but i would get the job done to pick up all the loose hairs... It really does sit in our surgical drawer, however!... Uro*ma
